Santa Fe Trail Ride
Held The Third Weekend In February
This Is Part Of The San Angelo Stock Show And Rodeo Association
Miles plays hosts to members of the Santa Fe Trail Ride held in conjunction with the San Angelo
Livestock Show and Rodeo. The event is held the third week of February. The ride begins in Abilene and
follows a trail approximately 88 miles and concludes in downtown San Angelo.

The 2009 route began on Friday, February 13 at the world famous Perinni Ranch in Buffalo Gap. The
trail ride stops in the communities of Bradshaw, Winters, Ballinger and Miles. The group of 100 riders
along with several covered wagons arrived in Miles on Wedesday evening, February 18. They were then
bussed back out to the party on Friday, February 20. The Miles Preservation Authority, Miles Volunteer
Fire Department and the Miles Young Farmers host this annual event.

Miles has become the “highlight” of the Trail Ride. A grilled steak dinner with all the trimmings is served
beginning at 6     p.m. on Thursday evening. The entertainment is a “Casino Night” and features
Blackjack and Texas Hold' Em. Each member of the above sponsoring organizations are responsible for a
prize. This year we had over 70 prizes for the “Casino Night”. We sold over 300 tickets to the 2009 Trail
Ride Dinner and Casino Night!

This is a community project with proceeds benefiting the three above organizations. Come out next year
and have a great time.

The 2010 Trail Ride will be in downtown Miles on Wednesday evening, February 17, 2010 to camp and
will return to Miles on Friday, February 19 for the steak dinner and casino night. For more information
